Last night, I had the privilege of being on the judging panel for the Edinburgh heat of Famelab 2015. It was a real pleasure seeing 13 budding science communicators take to the stage and engage us with their love of science, technology or engineering in just 3 minutes! Amongst the things we heard about were knot theory, liquid crystals, fluorescent chickens, cancer, nanomedicines, cell movement, Flo, and much more!
The judging was a tough job and there was a whisker between some of the competitors which made it very tough to decide on the 4 that would go to the Scottish final. However, we had to decide and 4 were selected to compete at the final which will be held at the National Museum of Scotland on 17 January 2015.
With thanks to the Beltane Engagement Network for their excellent organisation, I just want to say “Well Done” to everyone that took part – we were engaged and entertained, and we look forward to seeing some of you again at other events, and maybe even Famelab 2016!
